Steamboat Barn Village is a newer residential neighborhood on about 40 acres along Fish Creek, behind Steamboat's famous More Barn. It sits in the MLS Mountain Area, close to the base of Mount Werner.
Cattle rancher Martin "Chick" Yock built the barn between 1926 and 1928 to store hay. It became a symbol of Steamboat through a well-known ski poster showing two riders crossing deep snow with Mount Werner behind them. The neighborhood was planned with that view of the barn and mountain in mind.
Barn Village is made up of custom single-family homes and build-ready homesites on public water and sewer. Homes that have sold or listed recently have four or five bedrooms, about 3,100 to 4,200 square feet, and were built in the 2010s.
With so few sales, nearby neighborhoods are often needed to judge value. If you plan to build, review the design guidelines, HOA rules and construction costs early. If rental income matters to you, review our Steamboat Springs short-term rental rules.
